Medical Travel Korea(MTK) FINANCIAL POLICY

The Financial Policy is an integral part of the Terms of Service and describes payment for MTK services and other financial matters.

FINANCIAL POLICY

How much do MTK services cost?
MTK provides all intermediary services—consultation, booking, and payment processing—completely free of charge for our patients.
Medical consultations and procedures at the hospital are paid directly according to the hospital's invoice.
To confirm your appointment through our website, you will need to pay a booking deposit, which will be deducted from your final treatment cost.

KEY POINT: MTK services are completely free. Treatment costs are charged according to the hospital's standard rate, with no additional fees.

How does MTK generate revenue?
MTK receives a commission from hospitals for handling international patient consultations, bookings, and payment processing.
This commission is received directly from hospitals according to our partnership agreements.
TRANSPARENCY FIRST: Operating with transparency and fairness as our core principles, neither MTK nor the hospitals add any surcharges to patient bills.

Patients who book through MTK pay exactly the same price for medical services as they would if visiting the hospital directly. In fact, some hospitals even offer special discounts to MTK patients.

Do hospitals pay MTK to be listed on the platform?
No. Hospitals do not pay any fees to be listed on the MTK platform. All hospitals registered on MTK undergo a rigorous and objective selection process based on medical standards, physician qualifications, facility conditions, and patient satisfaction.

This selection policy does not consider the hospital's financial situation or ability to pay fees—only the quality of medical services is evaluated.

How are hospital directory rankings determined?
MTK maintains objectivity and fairness by generating hospital rankings through an automated algorithm, which minimizes human bias in the selection process. However, if a hospital wishes to be displayed at the top of a specific disease or procedure category, they can pay for promotional advertising. In such cases, the search results will display a "Promoted" label.

Why choose Korean healthcare?
COST-EFFECTIVENESS
Korean medical costs are significantly lower compared to advanced healthcare countries such as the United States, Europe, and Japan—even when including airfare and accommodation. This cost advantage is particularly pronounced in fields such as cosmetic surgery, dentistry, and ophthalmology.

MEDICAL EXPERTISE
Korean physicians graduate from highly competitive medical schools, which accept only top-performing students. In Korea, medical school is the most prestigious educational institution, which translates into a high standard of medical care.

DIVERSE HOSPITAL OPTIONS
Korea offers hospitals across various price ranges, from affordable clinics to world-class premium hospitals. Remarkably, even Korea's premium hospitals provide excellent medical services at lower costs than most hospitals in developed countries.

Can the final treatment cost differ from the initial estimate?
Yes, the final cost may be higher or lower than the initial estimate.

The primary reason is that the actual scope of procedures may vary depending on diagnostic results and situations discovered during treatment. For example, you may require more extensive treatment than initially anticipated, or conversely, less treatment may be necessary.

The hospital will confirm the final cost before the procedure and will consult with you if the cost differs from the initial estimate.

How are treatment fees paid?
BASIC PAYMENT METHOD
The booking deposit you paid in advance will be deducted from the hospital's final medical service charges. The remaining balance for medical services is typically invoiced by the hospital after the procedure is completed, and you will pay the hospital directly. MTK is neither an intermediary nor a representative in this process and assumes no responsibility for financial transactions.

PAYMENT METHODS
Hospitals support various payment options:
- Cash payment
- Credit/debit card (direct payment via card terminal)
- International bank transfer
For detailed information about payment methods at a specific hospital, please contact your MTK coordinator.

What is a hospital booking deposit?
Hospitals may request an additional booking deposit to confirm your appointment. This is based on a preliminary invoice issued by the hospital. This booking deposit serves as a financial guarantee of your visit and is separate from the initial deposit paid through our website for appointment confirmation.

AFTER PAYMENT OF BOOKING DEPOSIT
The hospital will confirm your exact visit date and time and will send you an official invitation letter (Medical Visa Letter). This document may be required for visa applications.

BOOKING DEPOSIT SETTLEMENT
After the procedure is completed, if the final cost is lower than the booking deposit paid, the hospital will refund the difference to your account. If the final cost is higher, you will pay the additional amount.
